About BVCom!cs

Welcome to the official website blog of BV COM!CS, home of original art, illustrations & comics created by Bryan Vieira. Currently I am updating my websites and updating artwork for some of my older titles. More content to come so keep checking back or follow me on that twitter thing.

WHY BV COM!CS?

Blade, Black Panther, Storm, Luke Cage, Falcon, War Machine, Bishop, Cloak, Goliath, Ultimate Nick Fury, Spawn, Cyborg, Steel, Green Latern (the black one), Afro Samurai, Static Shock, Obama.

Im sure I left off a few, but you get the idea. The world could use some more big name black superheroes. (Hancock does not count). Hell, maybe just more minority superheroes (Minoriteam does not count).

I shouldn't be able to list most of them. About 80% of them are from Marvel ("65% of the time my stats are right 100% of the time"), but thats why Marvel is dope. DC is cool but unless your in the Justice League your pretty wack. But I will say DC/WB usually produces better animated programs (Nobody got nothin on my 90's X-Men though. "Im the Juggernaut, bitch!").

Of course more "black superheroes" isn't the only reason why create my own comics. I simply love storytelling in graphic form (usually with a little humor and alot of fighting), plus I love to draw & illustrate (& design). I love how this simple medium can translate to so many different forms of entertainment to reach so many different people, from tv & film, to toys & video games. Maybe one day my comic creations will be able to translate as well. Even if they don't, ill still keep makin 'em. (is this where I say " 'Nuff Said"?)

Artwork: Black Dynamite ills

Illustrations inspired by the kick ass looking movie "Black Dynamite" starring Michael Jai White. Its a spoof of blaxploitation films of the 70's. Im a fan of blaxploitation so this movie looks like it's going to be the sh!t. Think a cross between "Shaft" & "Undercover Brother". Check out the trailers for the film movie: here.

Inspiration: the art of Mickey Duzyj

I saw a bright yellow New York Times magazine on the kitchen table this morning. On the cover was an illustration of a woman with an anxiety filled expression. I honestly didn't give a F about an article about anxiety, I just wanted to see more of this guys art...even if it made me late for work, which it did, then I had anxiety all day wondering if id get in trouble....oh the irony.

Before you knew it Google lead me to more work by Brooklyn artist, Mickey Duzyj. Love his clean, pop art style illustrations, and his use of color. Continue reading to check out some of my favorite pieces.
